Party In Simon's Pants eclipsed Cobham's Stratus as my favorite fusion cover to play. It never fails to send chills down my spine either, Dave. Once I learned how to count it correctly (thanks to burzmali, drumkid and Me2) I was able to bring it to my little group of fusioneers. While I never could dish it out with the panache of Simon I did understand it. That was the first song Luke & Simon wrote together once Phillips moved to California from Merrie Olde. The secret of playing that groove is feeling the catch in the melody; the one hangs in the air slightly longer than any of the other whole notes. As soon as I recognized that pivot point I stopped counting and just sang the riff to myself. The frenzied last minute of the tune will separate the men from the boys.
